Abstract

The effectiveness of a sunscreen product can be reduced by sweating, friction, swimming, bathing and water sports while wearing sunscreens, and this has led to the development of highly substantive products which resist washing off. The ability of a sunscreen to bind to the skin and resist removal during swimming or sweating is known as substantivity. As yet, there is no regulation or guideline for water resistance labeling in Korea. In this paper, standards for measuring substantivity around the world will be discussed and brief measurement of SPF(Sun Protection Factor) in water-resistant sunscreen will be requested.
